Become a part of the Jamboree’s mental health leadership team, guiding and supporting the specialists who provide mental health assistance to participants in crisis or distress. As the Mental Health First Aider Team Leader, you’ll share best practices, foster a collaborative learning environment, and help your team build confidence and insight through daily experience. Your cultural awareness and expertise will also support Listening Ear volunteers and medical staff in managing complex or sensitive cases.
Throughout the event, you’ll provide professional supervision, lead team-building activities, and help team members decompress after difficult situations, ensuring their wellbeing and resilience.
Your leadership will help maintain a stable, compassionate, and skilled support service that prioritizes both participant safety and the mental health of your team.
Having a good understanding of language and cultural differences
A degree in psychology is desirable; practical skills are highly valued. Applicants with certifications in areas like mental health first aid and other applicable mental health competencies (e.g. social workers, counselors / therapists, crisis intervention specialists, community outreach workers, etc.) are welcome to apply
Qualifications or experience in psychological crisis management is desired
Experience in team management is deisred
Experience in Listening Ear or Safe from Harm services at previous Jamborees is preferred
Proficiency in English – you can communicate effectively at a professional and managerial level and participate with confidence in work meetings or in detailed discussions on a wide range of topics
Proficiency in French, Spanish, Arabic, Polish, or other languages is a strong asset
