Become a part of the Listening Ear leadership team, guiding a small group of volunteers who provide empathetic, nonjudgmental support to participants experiencing psychological or emotional discomfort. As a Station Team Leader, you’ll oversee the Listening Ear space during your shift, ensuring it remains a calm, welcoming, and trustworthy environment where participants feel safe seeking help. You’ll lead daily briefings, manage workflow, offer real-time feedback, and help maintain a positive team spirit throughout the day.
In more complex situations, you’ll consult with your supervisor to determine the best course of action or whether a participant should be referred to additional on-site services.
Through your steady guidance, your team will be equipped to offer compassionate listening first aid, contributing to a supportive and caring atmosphere at the Jamboree.
Being a trusted Scout Leader
Team leading skills are required
Being able to help participants reduce stress and adapt to the Jamboree
Having the ability to support participants’ and ISTs’ comfort and well-being through empathy and active listening in situations of psychological and mental discomfort of the participants
A good understanding of other languages and cultures
A degree in psychology is desirable; practical skills are highly valued. Applicants with certifications in areas like mental health first aid and other applicable mental health competencies (e.g. social workers, counselors / therapists, crisis intervention specialists, community outreach workers, etc.) are welcome to apply
Experience in Listening Ear services is preferred
Experience in participating in World or Regional Scout events in welcomed
English on a communicative level
Proficiency in English, Spanish, French, Polish, Arabic or other languages is a strong asset
