Become a part of the Listening Ear team, offering compassionate, culturally sensitive support to participants experiencing psychological or emotional discomfort. In this role, you’ll create a welcoming, calm, and nonjudgmental environment where participants feel safe approaching you for help. Through empathy and active listening, you’ll provide immediate emotional support and help them navigate their feelings with care and understanding.
As the first point of contact for wellbeing concerns, you’ll assess each situation and offer appropriate support. When a participant requires additional or specialised assistance, you’ll guide them toward the relevant on-site services.
Your openness to different languages and cultures, together with your supportive presence, will help ensure that every participant feels valued, understood, and cared for throughout their Jamboree experience.
Being a trusted Scout Leader
Having the ability to support participants’ and ISTs’ comfort and well-being through empathy and active listening in situations of psychological and mental discomfort of the participants
Having a good understanding of other languages and cultures
No specifical experience is required
Having experience in Listening Ear services is welcomed but not required
Being able to help participants reduce stress and adapt to the Jamboree
Applicants with certifications in areas like mental health first aid and other applicable mental health competencies (e.g. social workers, counselors / therapists, crisis intervention specialists, community outreach workers, etc.) or possessing a degree in psychology are welcome to apply
English on a communicative level
Proficiency in Spanish, French, Polish, Arabic or other languages is a strong asset
