Become a part of the Listening Ear leadership team, supervising and supporting the volunteers who provide emotional assistance to participants both in person and online. As an LE Shift Manager, you’ll guide team members through their shifts, helping them navigate complex or sensitive situations with cultural awareness, linguistic understanding, and access to additional on-site services. You’ll offer expert backup when cases require heightened attention, ensuring that participants receive safe, empathetic, and effective support.
During each managed shift, you’ll monitor the delivery of Listening Ear services, evaluate ongoing processes, and coach team members in real time to strengthen their skills and enhance the service experience.
Your steady presence and professional insight will help maintain a supportive environment for both participants seeking help and LE volunteers providing it.
High organisation and self-discipline at work
Being able to help the team as well as participants reduce stress and adapt to the Jamboree
Having the ability to support participants’ and ISTs’ comfort and well-being through empathy and active listening in situations of psychological and mental discomfort of the participants
Having a good understanding of other languages and cultural differences
Experience in Safe from Harm or Listening Ear team, at the local, national or international level, is strongly desired
A degree in psychology is desirable; practical skills are highly valued. Applicants with certifications in areas like mental health first aid and other applicable mental health competencies (e.g. social workers, counselors / therapists, crisis intervention specialists, community outreach workers, etc.) are welcome to apply
Team leader experience is desired
Proficiency in English – you can communicate effectively at a professional level and participate with confidence in work meetings or in discussions on a wide range of topics work related
Proficiency in Spanish, French, Polish, Arabic or other languages is a strong asset
