Become a part of the programme team as an Activity Leader in the Woodcraft sector of the Forest Module, where participants will learn traditional carving and woodworking skills. The Forest Module focuses on classic Scouting techniques and is divided into four sectors: Bushcraft, Campcraft, Woodcraft, and Pioneering. During a single day, each patrol will take part in one activity within each sector.
As a Woodcraft Activity Leader, you will guide patrols through hands-on carving activities that teach practical knife skills and craftsmanship. Activities may include carving small wooden objects such as animals, butter knives, gnomes, owls, or pot hangers. A strong emphasis is placed on safe knife handling, carving techniques, whittling skills, and responsible tool use, ensuring participants gain both practical skills and confidence.
You will prepare and maintain materials at your activity base, ensure safety procedures are followed, and create an engaging learning experience for participants. Activity Leaders will receive additional training online before the Jamboree and on-site prior to programme delivery, allowing them to become familiar with carving techniques, activity workflows, materials, and the programme area. Leaders may also have the opportunity to rotate between different woodcraft activities, expanding their skills throughout the event.
