Become a part of the programme team as an Activity Leader in the Pioneering sector of the Forest Module, where participants will learn traditional Scouting construction and teamwork skills. The Forest Module focuses on classic Scouting techniques and is divided into four sectors: Bushcraft, Campcraft, Woodcraft, and Pioneering. During a single day, each patrol will take part in one activity within each sector.
As a Pioneering Activity Leader, you will guide patrols through hands-on construction activities using ropes, spars, and knots. Activities may include building structures such as flagpoles, watchtowers, camp tables, slingshots, drawbridges, rucksack holders, or other pioneering projects. Participants will learn essential knots, hitches, and teamwork skills while constructing and understanding the function of each structure. Each activity base hosts up to four patrols per day, and you will lead one base, ensuring a safe and engaging learning experience.
You will also prepare and maintain materials, ensure safety procedures are followed, and support Scouts in developing practical pioneering skills. Activity Leaders will receive additional training online in the months before the Jamboree and on-site prior to programme delivery, helping them become familiar with techniques, materials, activity workflows, and the programme area. Leaders may also have the opportunity to rotate between different pioneering activities, expanding their skills during the event.
