Job title: Jamboree Headquarters (HQ) Venue Lead (Venue Management department)
Nature of engagement: Volunteer contract
Duration: From June 2026 until the end of the project in December 2027.
Department description:
The Venue Management Department is responsible for ensuring that all shared venues and key communal services across the Jamboree site are safe, well-equipped, and operationally effective. This includes planning and managing common areas such as the Plaza, Programme venues, among others, as well as overseeing essential shared services such as the Jamboree Post Office, Lost & Found, and Information Points. Due to the cross-sectional nature of its functions, department pro-actively collaborates with others (e.g., Accreditation, Guest Services, Ceremonies departments).
The Jamboree HQ Venue Lead is responsible for the planning, coordination, and delivery of the Jamboree HQ, as a venue, at the World Scout Jamboree. Working in close collaboration with key stakeholders – particularly the Jamboree Management Team (JMT), Executive office (EXO) and the Jamboree Site – the role designs functional and engaging venue layouts and identifies major infrastructure requirements. The Jamboree HQ is the main operations hub of the WSJ, where the JMT, WOSM office, key departments, media center, and operations center, among others, will be stationed. This includes planning the layout of the venue, planning big equipment, facilities, and utilities, ensuring that all venues are fit for purpose and fully integrated into the overall site plan to enable smooth and efficient preparation.
During the event, the Venue Manager leads the on-site implementation and ensures the smooth day-to-day functioning of the venues, supported by a dedicated team of International Service Team (IST) members. The role oversees the venue, ensuring high-quality participant experiences, operational reliability, and effective problem-solving in a dynamic event setting. The role requires both strategic planning and hands-on management, ensuring that all respective venues operate smoothly and deliver high-quality support to participants.
