Department description   

The Programme Department plans the programme framework for the World Scout Jamboree 2027. 

To achieve the educational goals and provide a transformative experience for some 40,000 young people from around the world, the organizers will manage a large number of volunteers. The majority of them will be from the International Service Team category. However, the Programme Department will also be responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting Experts, Service Providers, and City Volunteers in their roles. 

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the IST Department and People Department to create and conduct recruitment processes. 
• Collaborate with the IST Department and People Department to create and conduct job allocation processes. 
• Oversee the Programme Department’s practices in recruitment, job allocation, training, and supporting task implementation. 

Knowledge and skills:  

• Expertise in managing Human Resources (either professionally or in Scouting).   
• Ability to work collaboratively with volunteers and staff of both national and international structures of Scouting around the world. 
• Proficiency in building and maintaining positive relationships with colleagues and key partners. 
• Self-reliance, proactivity, and emotional intelligence.   
• Open-mindedness, and cultural sensitivity, with a willingness to learn.   
• Integrity and a strong sense of ethics in all actions and decisions. 

 

Background experience:  

• Experience managing teams at a Scout District level or higher.  
• Personal participation in international Scouting events (e.g. in the role of patrol leader or IST) will be an added advantage.

Applicants from Poland should meet the following requirements:

• Active membership in the Polish Scouting & Guiding Association (ZHP).
• An opinion of the relevant Regional Commissioner or Chief Commissioner (Komendant Hufca / Komendant Chorągwi / Naczelnik ZHP).
• Positive experience of projects at least at regional level (domestic).
• Ability to communicate freely in spoken and written English.

Applicants from abroad should meet the following requirements:

• Active membership in one of the organisations belonging to the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM).
• A favourable opinion from the International Commissioner.
• Positive experience of projects at international level.
• Ability to communicate freely in spoken and written English.

As a member of the Jamboree Planning Team (JPT), you’ll be vital to creating this exceptional Scout event. We’re dedicated to supporting you fully, providing:   

• Comprehensive support from the People Department for personal and professional growth, including access to JPT Academy sessions and workshops.   
• A volunteer agreement outlining your contributions and responsibilities.   
• Arrangements for in-person meetings in Poland, covering transportation, accommodation, and visa costs. 
• A Jamboree-specific email address and access to tools like Microsoft 365 and Slack.   
• A Planning Team kit, including a scarf, T-shirt, and other Jamboree-related merchandise.   
• A volunteer certificate at the end of your volunteer journey, acknowledging your contribution and dedication.

• A cover letter of no more than 4 paragraphs describing your experience, skills and the rationale for your application (in English).
