Duration: From July 2026 until the end of the project in December 2027.

Department description:

The Media Relations Section Co-Lead will work alongside a second Co-Lead to spearhead the media presence of the 26th World Scout Jamboree 2027.

This section focuses on external communication, primarily directed towards audiences in Poland, while also managing international outreach. It will be responsible for coordinating PR campaigns and creating materials for both national and global media outlets, including press agencies. The section will also handle media inquiries and ensure consistent messaging across all channels. Additionally, this section hosts the Young Spokesperson Program, where several young members from ZHP will be trained to serve as spokespersons for both Polish and international media during the Jamboree. This area is also dedicated to managing relationships with external media organizations and overseeing the activities of accredited journalists and press representatives on-site.

 

What you should expect

Key tasks include coordinating media relations, ensuring secure and effective media coverage, organizing press conferences, producing promotional content, and training young spokespersons to represent the event publicly.

Responsibilities:

  • Co-leading the Media Relations Section and managing a team of volunteers.
  • Developing and implementing media relations and PR strategies for Polish and international audiences.
  • Coordinating PR campaigns and media outreach activities.
  • Creating, editing and distributing press materials, including press releases, media briefings and statements.
  • Managing relationships with journalists, media outlets and press agencies.
  • Handling media enquiries and coordinating interview requests.
  • Supporting crisis communication and reputation management activities when required.
  • Coordinating media events, press conferences and media briefings.
  • Leading the Young Spokesperson Programme, including training and support of youth spokespersons.
  • Cooperating with other teams to ensure effective communication and information flow.
  • Accreditation of journalists and media representatives.
  • Coordinating media activities during the event, ensuring access to necessary resources and support.
  • Managing the International Media Center, including overseeing operations, supporting journalists, and ensuring smooth media coverage throughout the event.

Applicant Profile

Skills and experience

  • Positive experience in projects at least at the Scout National level.
  • Fluent English (spoken and written); additional languages would be an asset.
  • Experience in media relations, public relations or external communications.
  • Experience in managing teams and coordinating volunteers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with camera and journalists, media representatives and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal and project management skills.
  • Independence, initiative and excellent self-organisation.

Formal requirements

Applicants from Poland should meet the following requirements:  

  • active membership in the Polish Scouting & Guiding Association (ZHP)  
  • completed leader’s service in the previous year and an opinion of the relevant Regional Commissioner or Chief Commissioner (Komendant Hufca / Komendant Chorągwi / Naczelnik ZHP)
  • positive experience of projects at least at regional level (domestic) 
  • ability to communicate freely in spoken and written English  

Applicants from abroad should meet the following requirements:  

  • Active membership in one of the organisations belonging to the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM)
  • a favourable opinion from the International Commissioner
  • positive experience of projects at international level
  • ability to communicate freely in spoken and written English
