The Polish Scouting and Guiding Association has set off to South Korea to participate in the World Scout Jamboree – the largest educational event for children and young people. The event organised by the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) will attract nearly 50,000 scouts from different countries. A 535-member delegation will take part from Poland.

The World Scout Jamboree is an opportunity to get to know other cultures, cooperate and learn through various workshops and field activities. Every 4 years, scouts from around the world aged 14-17 come to this event to strengthen international ties and gain skills for life. It’s a unique event because you can only participate once in your life!

This year’s Jamboree will take place from August 1 to 12, 2023 in SaeManGeum (Jeollabuk-do) in South Korea. The theme of the event is “Draw your dream!”. This motto expresses the desire of the Scout Movement members for the 25th World Scout Jamboree to become a place for the development of scouts’ dreams from all over the world. For the Polish Scouting and Guiding Association, this year’s gathering is of particular importance. In four years, in 2027, Poland will host the next World Scout Jamboree in Gdańsk on Sobieszewska Island.

The Chief Scout of the Polish Scouting and Guiding Association, Martyna Kowacka, expressed her joy at the participation of the Polish delegation in the Jamboree – “I am glad that the Polish Scouting and Guiding Association, as the only Scouting organization from Poland, which is a member of WOSM and can participate in the Jamboree, can give 535 scouts the chance to experience this unique adventure that the World Scout Jamboree is. This is not only an extraordinary opportunity for our scouts to develop and meet peers from all over the world, but also an opportunity to get to know new cultures, places and traditions.”

Krzysztof Moczulski – LOT’s Press Spokesman, during the press conference said he was very pleased that LOT Polish Airlines could be a partner of the Polish delegation’s trip to the Jamboree. “Someone once said that they understood that the world has no borders when they saw the view from an airplane window. I hope you will feel it today as well. Every adventure has to start somewhere – I’m glad that yours starts with LOT.” – he added.

“Scouts have a lot in common with us – our motto is ‘Be Prepared’. Just like scouts, we have to stay alert all the time. I am glad that the Polish Scouting and Guiding Association is starting its journey from our airport. I can’t wait for the Jamboree in 2027 and the moment when scouts from all over the world will arrive at our airport, ready to get to know Poland!” – said Michał Witkowski, Deputy Director of the F. Chopin Airport in Warsaw.

“We are in for a great adventure! You can only participate in the Jamboree once in your life – I am glad that I have this opportunity together with my team. We are going not only to acquire skills for life, but also to promote Poland. We are ready to leave!” – announced Aleksander Chrzczonowski – expedition participant.

The Polish Scouting and Guiding Association is the largest youth organization in Poland, which brings together over 105,000 members. For over 100 years, the Polish Scouting and Guiding Association has been supporting the development of children and young people, shaping a proactive attitude and enabling the acquisition of knowledge and skills necessary in adult life. Thanks to the daily engagement of over 12,000 volunteer instructors, the Polish Scouting and Guiding Association offers not only exceptional Scout trips but also a variety of extracurricular activities that take place throughout the year. Cultivating values such as friendship, adventure, development, and citizenship makes Scouting respond to both the current needs of young people and the challenges of the modern world. The Polish Scouting and Guiding Association is also one of the active founding members of the World Organization of the Scout Movement WOSM and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, which gather over 60 million people around the world.
