Role Description

Job title: Venue Lead (Venue Management department)

Nature of engagement: Volunteer contract

Duration: From March 2026 until the end of the project in December 2027.

Department description The Venue Management Department is responsible for ensuring that all shared venues and key communal services across the Jamboree site are safe, well-equipped, and operationally effective. This includes planning and managing common areas such as the Plaza, Programme venues, Welcome Area, among others, as well as overseeing essential shared services such as the Jamboree Post Office, Lost & Found, and Information Points. Due to the cross-sectional nature of its functions, the department pro-actively collaborates with others (e.g., Programme, Accreditation, Guest Services, Ceremonies departments).

We are looking for 5 Venue Leaders to join our team and manage a specific venue (see below).

What you should expect

The Venue Lead is responsible for the planning, coordination, and operational delivery of one or more designated venues at the World Scout Jamboree.

Working in close collaboration with key stakeholders – including relevant functional departments (e.g., Programme) and the Jamboree Site Department – the role designs functional and engaging venue layouts and identifies major infrastructure requirements. This includes planning the layout of the venue, planning large equipment, facilities, and utilities, ensuring that all venues are fit for purpose and fully integrated into the overall site plan to enable smooth and efficient preparation.

During the event, the Venue Lead, together with the involved departments, leads the on-site implementation and ensures the smooth day-to-day operation of the assigned venues, supported by a dedicated team of International Service Team (IST) members. The role oversees venue operations, ensuring high-quality participant experiences, operational reliability, and effective problem-solving in a dynamic event setting. The role requires both strategic planning and hands-on management, ensuring that all assigned venues operate smoothly and deliver high-quality support to participants, staff, and guests.

Venues covered. Applicants may apply for one or more of the following venues and will be assigned to a specific venue at the end of the recruitment process. Preferences should be indicated in the cover letter:

  • Bus Terminals & Welcome Center (on-site)
  • Center for Emergency Services
  • Jamboree Headquarters (HQ)
  • Off-site Program Venues
  • On-site Program Venues

A short description of each venue is provided below.

Bus Terminals & Welcome Center
This includes multiple bus terminals serving as the main entry and exit points for participants and ISTs, transport hubs for off-site program areas, and a satellite bus terminal at AmberExpo. The Welcome Center is the on-site venue for guests, day visitors, and official arrivals.

Center for Emergency Services
The key operational base for firefighters, ambulances, and other external emergency services, with potential support functions linked to the on-site hospital and medical services.

Jamboree Headquarters (HQ)
The main operations hub of the World Scout Jamboree, hosting the Jamboree Management Team, WOSM office, key departments, operations center and other identified elements.

Off-site Program Venues
Program locations outside the main Jamboree site, including modules such as Beach, Forest, River, and City (indicative), delivering diverse programme experiences.

On-site Program Venues
Program areas located within the Jamboree site, including modules such as Village, Meadow, and Kaleidoscope (indicative), forming the core on-site program offering.
