Job title: Offsite Dining Lead, Food Services Department

Nature of engagement: Volunteer contract

Duration: From January 2026 until the end of the project in December 2027 

Department description: The mission of the Department is to provide nutritious, diverse, and sustainable food options that cater to the needs of all Jamboree participants IST & Staff, while promoting the principles of healthy living and environmental stewardship. 

The lead for Offsite dining will support the Co-heads of the food services department and where appropriate work with the other Leads within the food services department and other departments to deliver a quality, nutritionally balanced, safe and affordable food service to all Jamboree participants, IST & Staff in remote offsite locations when the general provision is not accessible. 

What you should expect

Responsibilities  

  • Work with local ZHP camp providers and Camp-in-Camp Lead within the Programme Department to agree feeding model for camp in camp project.
  • Work with Co-heads of food, other FDS departmental leads, suppliers and other departments to establish and implement models for any off-site dining requirements.
  • Working with the FDS Lead for HSEQ, manage the implemented food standards model to ensure the food safety and hygiene management systems are in place and working for all offsite dining occasions.
  • Manage IST assigned to the department by ensuring all appropriate training is completed, job roles assigned and schedules produced and are adhered to so as to effectively cover the responsibilities of the department. 

Commitments

  • Work closely with the Co-Heads of the Food Services Department, departmental team members, and other Jamboree Planning Team members to ensure an effective, well-organized offsite dining function. 
  • Establish clear processes and delivery models for all offsite dining needs. 
  • Support the Co-Heads of Food Services in the design and setup of all offsite dining operations, including required team members and resources. 
  • Attend Jamboree meetings as required-up to two in-person per year-and multiple virtual meetings, increasing in frequency as the event approaches. 
  • Attend additional virtual Jamboree meetings as needed. 
  • Respond promptly to communication via email and Slack. 
  • Be available for several hours per week across multiple days; workload will significantly increase closer to the event. 
  • Be committed to working in a multicultural, fast-paced environment.

Applicant Profile

Knowledge and skills

  • Scouting Knowledge: Familiarity with Scouting principles and experience in Scout events are highly desirable. 
  • Management Skills: Excellent organizational and management abilities. 
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable working with diverse teams. 
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with high attention to detail and the ability to manage complex logistical challenges. 
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively as a coordinator, sharing responsibilities and supporting joint decision-making within the Food Services Department. 
  • Proficiency with Outlook 365, MS Word, Excel, and SharePoint. 

Background Experience

  • Professional Experience: Proven experience managing food safety, either in a commercial environment or at a large-scale Scouting event. 
  • Strong ability to work cross-departmentally and engage effectively with key internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Leadership Experience: Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage projects, preferably-but not necessarily-within Scouting or event management contexts. 
  • Community-building experience, particularly in organizing activities or events that foster engagement and belonging. 
  • Experience in Scout events is highly desirable, especially in supplier operations or food services.

  • completed leader’s service in the previous year and an opinion of the relevant Regional Commissioner or Chief Commissioner (Komendant Hufca / Komendant Chorągwi / Naczelnik ZHP)
  • positive experience of projects at least at regional level (domestic)
  • ability to communicate freely in spoken and written English

  • active membership in one of the organisations belonging to the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM)
  • a favourable opinion from the International Commissioner
