Position: Member, Sustainability – Jamboree Planning Team 

Type of Engagement: Volunteer Contract 

Duration: June 2025 through December 2027 (or earlier depending on volunteer’s availability) 

Team Size: 6-8 people 

 

We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced individual to serve as the Sustainability Member for our Jamboree Planning Team for the World Scout Jamboree 2027. This important volunteer role supports the implementation of sustainability initiatives throughout the planning, delivery, and evaluation stages of the Jamboree. 

As a Sustainability Member, you will contribute to ensuring that all aspects of the Jamboree reflect sustainability principles—from waste management and energy usage to procurement and transportation. You will collaborate with other team members and Functional Areas to help embed sustainability into their operations and decision-making.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Supporting the implementation of sustainability strategies for the Jamboree, 
  • Collaborating with Functional Areas to integrate sustainable practices, 
  • Contributing to the monitoring and evaluation of sustainability initiatives, 
  • Promoting awareness and advocacy for sustainability within the team and the wider Scouting community.

Applicant Profile

We welcome applicants from both within Poland and abroad, each with their respective requirements: 

For applicants based in Poland, the following criteria apply: 

  • Active membership in the Polish Scouting & Guiding Association (ZHP). 
  • Completion of leader’s service in the previous year, accompanied by an endorsement from the relevant Regional Commissioner or the Chief Commissioner. 
  • Proven positive experience with projects at least at the troop level. 
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English. 

For international applicants, the criteria are as follows: 

  • Active membership in one of the organisations belonging to the World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM). 
  • A favourable opinion from the competent International Commissioner. 
  • Proven positive experience with international level projects. 
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English. 

 

Knowledge and Skills 

We are seeking applicants who embody the following qualifications and traits: 

  • Proven experience in sustainability related roles, 
  • Comprehensive understanding of environmental or social or governance sustainability issues, best practices, and emerging trends, 
  • Ability to prepare user-friendly materials that effectively communicate sustainability principles and initiatives, 
  • Strong coordination, communication, and advocacy skills, 
  • Knowledge of Scouting principles and the operational structure of large-scale events, 
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate sustainability into diverse operations and decision-making processes, 
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
