What you should expect

Responsibilities  

The HSEQ & Food Safety Lead serves as the primary point of contact for all Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) matters within the Food Services department. This role ensures that all food service operations-across internal teams, contracted providers, and international partners-meet required Polish food safety standards and support the delivery of a safe, compliant, and successful Jamboree. 

  1. HSEQ Leadership & Coordination
  • Act as the main liaison for all HSEQ-related issues within the Food Services department. 
  • Provide expert guidance, advice, and support to stakeholders, ensuring alignment and compliance across all food service operations. 
  1. Food Safety Standards & Compliance
  • Develop and implement an aligned food safety policy for all contracted food service providers, including: 
    • Participant food market providers 
    • IST dining providers
    • International food house teams 
    • Commercial food vendors
    • Camp-in-Camp food providers 
  • Establish, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to food safety. 
  • Create a unified HACCP framework applicable to all providers and ensure consistency in application. 
  1. Training, Education & Capacity Building
  • Design and deliver educational materials and guidance for: 
    • Participants 
    • International food house teams 
    • IST (International Service Team) members 
    • Food Services departmental staff 
  • Support all parties to meet Polish food safety standards and operate safely throughout the Jamboree. 
  1. Monitoring, Audit & Enforcement
  • Conduct monitoring and compliance audits across all food operations during the Jamboree. 
  • Document and escalate non-compliance where appropriate. 
  • Carry out enforcement actions when required to safeguard participant health and food safety standards. 

Commitments

  • Regular online departmental meetings 
  • Minimum one in person departmental meeting per year  
  • Up to two in person full JPT meetings per year 

Applicant Profile

Knowledge and skills

  • Strong understanding of European Food Safety standards and their application in the food industry.
  • Effectively collaborate and communicate with governing bodies and across a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates High level of competence and personal culture.
  • Ability to work with volunteers and staff of the organisation’s international structures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build positive relationships with colleagues.
  • Knowledge of MS Office systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work to deadlines.
  • Self-motivated & resilient.

Background Experience   

  • Experience in food safety, HSEQ, environmental health, or related fields. 
  • Knowledge of European / Polish food safety regulations and HACCP principles. 
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills. 
  • Experience working with diverse international teams.
  • Experience of high-volume catering environments (preferred).

Applicants from Poland should meet the following requirements:  

  • active membership in the Polish Scouting & Guiding Association (ZHP) 
  • completed leader’s service in the previous year and an opinion of the relevant Regional Commissioner or Chief Commissioner (Komendant Hufca / Komendant Chorągwi / Naczelnik ZHP)
  • positive experience of projects at least at regional level (domestic)  
  • ability to communicate freely in spoken and written English  

Applicants from abroad should meet the following requirements:

  • Active membership in one of the organisations belonging to the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) 
  • a favourable opinion from the International Commissioner  
  • positive experience of projects at international level
  • ability to communicate freely in spoken and written English
