Role Description

Position: Head, Solidarity Operation Department – Jamboree Planning Team

Type of Engagement: Volunteer Contract

Duration: June 2023 through December 2027 (or earlier depending on volunteer’s availability, with a minimum commitment until April 2025)

Team Size: To be determined over the course of the project

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to serve as the Head of Solidarity Operations for our Jamboree Planning Team for the World Scout Jamboree 2027. This crucial role involves overseeing the Solidarity Operation, an initiative designed to ensure Scouts from all economic backgrounds can participate in the Jamboree.

As the Head of Solidarity Operations, your primary responsibility will be to establish and manage a solidarity fund. This fund aims to raise substantial resources to provide as many Scouts as possible with the opportunity to attend the World Scout Jamboree 2027, regardless of their economic circumstances. A key focus will be on Scouts from countries that lack the resources to send participants to the Jamboree.

An additional component of your role will involve initiating and overseeing economic activation programmes and trainings. These programmes will form an integral part of the Solidarity Operation, enhancing the skills and capabilities of Scouts and thereby promoting their economic empowerment.

You will work closely with National Scout Organizations (NSOs) and partners of World Scouting who contribute to the solidarity fund, and coordinate with the World Scout Bureau (WSB) Regional Support Centres. These centres oversee the accommodation of Scouts from financially assisted NSOs at the Jamboree.

Furthermore, you will ensure that Scouts supported by the solidarity fund have access to the same facilities and experiences as all other World Scout Jamboree participants, including the look and feel of the Jamboree experience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Establishing and managing a solidarity fund,
  • Implementing economic activation programmes and trainings,
  • Fundraising to maximize resources,
  • Collaborating with NSOs, partners, and WSB Regional Support Centres,
  • Ensuring equal experience for all Jamboree participants.

This volunteer role is a unique opportunity to contribute to the inclusive spirit of Scouting by ensuring that economic circumstances do not limit participation in the World Scout Jamboree 2027.

If you are passionate about making a significant impact in the world of Scouting and possess the required skills, we invite you to apply.

Join us in creating a more equitable and inclusive World Scout Jamboree 2027, where the spirit of Scouting can be shared by all.
