Role Description

Position: Head, Safety & Security Department – Jamboree Planning Team

Type of Engagement: Volunteer Contract

Duration: June 2023 through December 2027 (or earlier depending on volunteer’s availability, with a minimum commitment until April 2025)

Team Size: To be determined over the course of the project

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to fill the role of the Head of Safety and Security Department as a volunteer on our Jamboree Planning Team for the World Scout Jamboree 2027. This is a critical role aimed at guaranteeing the safety and security of all participants, spectators, staff, and the surrounding communities during the Jamboree.

In this role, you will be entrusted with the mission to create and sustain a cooperative structure that will not only ensure the safety and security of this event but also serve as a model of best practices for future events. Your ultimate goal will be to foster an environment where personal safety and security are assured, allowing everyone connected to the Jamboree to fully partake in and enjoy the excitement generated by the event.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing comprehensive safety and security protocols,
  • Strategic planning and risk assessment,
  • Leading and coordinating a diverse team,
  • Collaborating effectively with various stakeholders.

This role offers a unique opportunity to apply your safety and security expertise in a context that is both challenging and rewarding. Your contribution will play a significant part in the success of the World Scout Jamboree 2027, a globally anticipated event.

Applicant Profile

We welcome applicants from both within Poland and abroad, each with their respective requirements:

For applicants based in Poland, the following criteria apply:

  • Active membership in the Polish Scouting & Guiding Association (ZHP).
  • Completion of leader’s service in the previous year, accompanied by an endorsement from the relevant Regional Commissioner or the Chief Commissioner.
  • Proven positive experience with projects at least at the troop level.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

For international applicants, the criteria are as follows:

  • Active membership in one of the organisations belonging to the World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM).
  • A favourable opinion from the competent International Commissioner.
  • Proven positive experience with international level projects.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Knowledge and Skills

We are seeking applicants who embody the following qualifications and traits:

  • A strong background in safety and security management,
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities,
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills,
  • High levels of integrity and professionalism,
  • Deep understanding of Scouting principles and the operation of large-scale events,
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
