Job title: Co-Lead, Learning and Knowledge Management Section, Safe from Harm Department

Nature of engagement: Volunteer contract

Duration: From November 2025 until the end of the project in December 2027

Department description: The role of the Safe from Harm Learning and Knowledge Management Section is to work with the other sections in the Safe from Harm Department (Safe from Harm Operations Unit (SHOT), Listening Ear, and Access and Inclusion), relevant Jamboree departments and external stakeholders in order to develop and deliver a wide range of Safe from Harm learning materials for adults and youth participants.

What you should expect

Responsibilities

  • Joint leadership of the Learning and Knowledge Management in the Safe from Harm Department with one other co-lead (already appointed).
  • Advise on how to create an engaging, comprehensive, intelligible and practical learning experience on Safe from Harm related topics to youth, young adults and adults, applying the best practices embedded in the Scouting method.
  • Adjust learning experiences and curricula to the different audiences regarding their function at the Jamboree and other factors, e.g., age, nationality, special needs, language skills etc.
  • Before the Jamboree:
    – review learning experiences from previous World Scout Jamborees and other world events.
    – develop comprehensive, accessible learning experiences applicable in online, remote and on-site setting that cover topics such as recognizing and reacting to signs of harm, understanding boundaries, equality and inclusion, and safety before and at the Jamboree.
    – write scenarios for learning modules based on the prepared curriculum.
    – prepare an engaging communication on various media channels to involve recipients of the learning experience in the subject of safeguarding.
  • Help to deliver the designed learning solutions to the respective groups of audience both before the Jamboree and at the event.
  • Contribute the insight to the projects and share expertise to other sections of the Safe from Harm Department (Listening Ear, Safe from Harm Operations Unit, Access & Inclusion).
  • At the Jamboree:
    – in collaboration with other departments supervise the completion of obligatory Safe from Harm learning for adults.
    – deliver a Safe from Harm on-Jamboree learning experience for Youth Participants.
    – support other sections of Safe from Harm department (Listening Ear, Safe from Harm Operations Unit, Access & Inclusion) in the ongoing case management at the Jamboree according to the priority of needs.
  • Assist with record keeping and reporting.

Commitments

  • attend department and section meetings, usually every four weeks, which will be mostly virtual,
  • attend JPT meetings – about two in-person meetings per year, and several virtual meetings,
  • follow up promptly to communication by email and on our internal platform, Slack,
  • have two to three hours available during the week (he workload is unlikely to be evenly distributed, with some more intensive periods of activity, so this is an average),
  • arrive at the Jamboree site a couple of days before the event and stay one or two days after contingents leave to ensure arrival and departure process. The Jamboree will take place between 30th of July and 8th of August 2027.

All candidates are kindly requested to save the date on 6th – 8th of February 2026 for an in-person Safe from Harm Department Meeting.

Applicant Profile

Knowledge and skills

  • ability to design educational content, i.e. instructions, games, exercises, workbooks, adjusted to the needs of a young recipient (14-17 y.o.).
  • ability to create and communicate user-friendly materials for adults and young people, with special regard for creating materials aligned with the needs of young recipients (14-17 y.o.).
  • knowledge of the Global Safe From Harm Policy and/or operation of Safe From Harm structures at international events.
  • creativity and readiness to invent new ways of working and concepts.
  • awareness of the principles of the learning process in children and youth.
  • willingness to learn and use online training platforms and applications selected as a tool for delivering learning modules.
  • ability to work with volunteers and staff of the Jamboree and members of its contingents.
  • ability to lead and work in a group.
  • efficiency, motivation, self-reliance and proactivity, going hand in hand with good organisational skills.
  • ability to make recommendations and decisions in difficult circumstances and act on them impartially and promptly.
  • integrity and a strong sense of ethics in all actions and decisions.

Background Experience

  • Providing educational experience to children and youth, preferably within scouting activities or being a Scout Troop Leader for at least 2 years.
  • Designing e-learning experience in one of the following positions: learning designer, instructional designer, subject matter expert (SME), facilitator.
  • Taking a role at international scouting events with direct contact with young participants, such as i.e. Leader, CMT, or IST assigned to the roles requiring regular contact with participants.
  • Managing project teams in a remote setting.

  • active membership in the Polish Scouting & Guiding Association (ZHP)
  • completed leader’s service in the previous year and an opinion of the relevant Regional Commissioner or Chief Commissioner (Komendant Hufca / Komendant Chorągwi / Naczelnik ZHP)
  • positive experience of projects at least at regional level (domestic)
  • ability to communicate freely in spoken and written English

Applicants from abroad should meet the following requirements:

  • Active membership in one of the organisations belonging to the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM)
  • a favourable opinion from the International Commissioner
  • positive experience of projects at international level
  • ability to communicate freely in spoken and written English
