Role Description

Position: Coordinator, Aquatic Programme, Programme Department – Jamboree Planning Team

Type of Engagement: Volunteer Contract

Duration: June 2023 through December 2027 (or earlier depending on volunteer’s availability, with a minimum commitment until April 2025)

Team Size: To be determined over the course of the project

As a Coordinator of the Aquatic Programme for the World Scout Jamboree, the volunteer will play a crucial role in both the planning and execution stages of the event’s water-based activities.

During the planning phase, the Coordinator will be responsible for developing a comprehensive and exciting Aquatic Programme. This might include activities such as sailing, canoeing, swimming, snorkeling, and various water games. The coordinator would work closely with other team members to ensure the activities are suitable for the participants’ age and skill levels, are safe, and align with the overall objectives of the Jamboree. They would also liaise with suppliers for the procurement of necessary equipment and coordinate with safety personnel to establish emergency response procedures.

The Coordinator would also have a role in training volunteers to assist in the delivery of the aquatic programme, ensuring they understand their roles, the safety procedures, and the specifics of the activities they’ll be leading.

During the execution phase, the Coordinator will oversee the operation of the Aquatic Programme. They will manage the programme staff, ensure safety regulations are adhered to, solve any issues that arise, and ensure that the participants are having an enjoyable and educational experience.

In addition to these specific tasks, the Coordinator would also be expected to embody the values of the Scouting movement, demonstrating leadership, teamwork, and a commitment to creating a positive and inclusive environment for all participants.

Applicant Profile

We welcome applicants from both within Poland and abroad, each with their respective requirements:

For applicants based in Poland, the following criteria apply:

  • Active membership in the Polish Scouting & Guiding Association (ZHP).
  • Completion of leader’s service in the previous year, accompanied by an endorsement from the relevant Regional Commissioner or the Chief Commissioner.
  • Proven positive experience with projects at least at the troop level.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

For international applicants, the criteria are as follows:

  • Active membership in one of the organisations belonging to the World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM).
  • A favourable opinion from the competent International Commissioner.
  • Proven positive experience with international level projects.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proven experience working effectively with volunteers and staff across national and regional structures of WOSM Member Organisation(s) and other NGOs.

  • A track record of achieving set objectives, showcasing determination and result-oriented mindset.
  • Efficiency, motivation, and autonomy, coupled with proactivity and robust organisational skills.
  • Emotional intelligence, underscored by the capacity to establish and maintain positive relationships with key partners.
  • A dynamic personality, open-mindedness, eagerness to learn, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Unwavering integrity and a strong ethical compass guiding all actions and decisions.
  • Familiarity with the operations and principles of Scouting on a global scale.
